70 houses planned for Jack Lane, in Moulton

The latest plans, submitted by Richard and Karen Jones, are for 70 houses at land off Jack Lane, which will back on to Anthony Drive.

They follow a proposal by Bellway Homes for 64 houses off Jack Lane, in Davenham, near its junction with London Road.

Both planning applications come in the wake of outline plans for 148 houses off Beehive Lane, which were approved by a planning inspector after an appeal.

At its February meeting Moulton Parish Council said it will write to Stephen O’Brien, MP for Eddisbury, to see if he could speak to residents about the current situation.

Clr Tony Rigby, parish council chairman, said: “There are nearly 300 houses planned, it’s excessive.

“We will write to our MP and continue to be vociferous in our views on planning applications.

“But our hands continue to be tied because of national planning policy.”

Moulton Parish Council has complained to Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) about the planning process and is waiting to hear from its scrutiny committee.

Resident Margaret Newton, who attended the meeting, said: “Forgive my cynicism but by the time anything is done the whole character of Davenham, Leftwich, Moulton, in fact the whole of mid Cheshire, is going to be changed forever and we are never going to get it back.”

Clr Rigby said he agreed and emphasised that there have been no changes to infrastructure, including transport, education and health, to support the potential extra residents.

He added: “The problem we have as a parish council is that we’ve got the necessary aspects in place in terms of developing a neighbourhood plan, and we have a parish plan and a village design statement, but until CWAC has a local plan in place, none of it amounts to anything.

“This leaves the village entirely at risk of speculations from developers.”

The parish council is also meeting with HOW Planning, the agents behind the plans for 70 homes, at the Methodist chapel today, Wednesday.
