COMMUNITY leaders have vowed to fight for the best deal for Moulton after villagers found out a new housing estate has been approved.
At its latest meeting the parish council discussed the way forward after a planning inspector gave the green light to Richborough Estates’ plans for 148 new homes.
The outline plans, for land off Barnside Way, caused extensive community opposition, which has even led to questioning of the wider planning process.
Clr Tony Rigby, Moulton Parish Council chairman, said the houses still were not guaranteed but that if they are built then the council will fight for Moulton’s rights.
“We need to see what a full application looks like when one comes in,” he said.
“This might not be for another five years, it might not be ever.
“When it does come in then the £668,000 finance agreement in Section 106 monies needs to spent in the community.
“My view is that we must fight to ensure every single penny of that money is spent in this community affected by this potential development.”
He added: “It will be the parish council’s mission statement to make sure every penny is spent in the village.”
