THOUSANDS of pounds are being given to villages in Northwich to help with the impact of house building.
Kingsmead Parish Council is in line for more than £22,000 after development between 2010 and 2012, and Moulton Parish Council in line for more than £1,300.
Jo O’Donoghue, Kingsmead’s parish clerk, said: “This is a grant from central government to local authorities who use their discretion as to whether or how much to pass on to local town or parish councils.
“Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) has decided to transfer 20 per cent to individual parishes where development has taken place from 2010 to 2012 and £22,000 has now been paid in.”
Clr Helen Weltman, a Kingsmead parish and CWAC councillor, said: “I think there’s more to come from the figures – if we get £22,000 over the next five years then that’s £100,000 for a big project.”
Phil Sanders, Moulton Parish Council’s clerk, said: “This is in recognition of the impact of new homes on the community.
“This year is £1,307, next year is £1,135 and the year after £736.
“My suggestion is that it goes towards our war memorial refurbishment.”
