MYSELF and fellow residents on Beach Road were speechless on reading 'Don't move the bus stop', Guardian, April 8.
The so-called letters to all residents on Beach Road never reached numbers 127 to 147 which are the closest to the bus stop now and no petition has been seen by any of us.
The traffic lights in question would be at the end of Bradburns Lane and would ease the traffic coming onto Beach Road cutting the amount of accidents we witness regularly.
The installation of the lights will also act as a form of traffic calming.
We welcome the move of the bus shelter to a safer part of the road.
As there is no lay-by for the bus to pull into, at present the traffic builds up and causes problems but with the new siting and lay-by the traffic will run more smoothly.
We fail to understand how Chris Hope can say the noise and heavy tankers will increase.
Does he think everyone is going to change their driving habits just because we have the lights?
We feel the proposed changes will benefit residents as traffic will run a lot smoother.
Residents will be able to join the flow of traffic out of their driveways more easily and not be waiting for someone to let them out or a break in the traffic flow.
As for the bus shelter being a blight on his view, the one opposite is totally see-through and unobtrusive and surely cannot stop him from looking out onto the lovely fields and alpacas.
As for being dangerous and restricting his view of pedestrians while he is exiting and entering his drive, anyone would think we had buses every two minutes, which is not the case.
We are also bemused with regard to Grange Drive as it is not on his side of the road and as far as we can see will not cause any problems as it is very rarely used and further up the road.
We congratulate Cheshire West and Chester Council on their action to make the road safer.
Phil Lea For and on behalf of the residents of 127 - 147 Beach Road, Hartford
