THE player who scored the last goal of Witton’s promotion-winning season – Alex Titchiner – has joined Football Conference champions Fleetwood Town.
Albion’s leading marksman, with 39 goals from 54 starts in league and cup, was unveiled as the Football League new boys first new recruit of the summer today, Friday.
As a free agent, the Lancashire outfit has not paid a fee.
However Witton are entitled to compensation.
Titchiner, 20, was picked by supporters as the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North’s best player last term, his goals helping Albion to third in the table.
He was on target too in both of their play-offs matches against Farsley and then Curzon Ashton.
His departure brings to an end a second spell at the Help for Heroes Stadium – he scored six times in eight games during a loan stay last term– in which the former Crewe Alexandra junior’s goals tally was 45 from 62 starts.
Titchiner was joined at Highbury this afternoon by Wales U21s goalkeeper Chris Maxwell, who has left Wrexham to play for Micky Mellon’s team.
