IN this form, Witton Albion might just want to play away from home every week.
Indeed, no league rival has scored more goals on their travels to date this term.
A debut double for striker Rob Hopley will have encouraged manager Carl Macauley, who watched his side hit the net five times in the final half hour.
It helped Witton secure back-to-back wins in Division One North for the first time since the season’s opening seven days.
That feat is made more impressive by the fact their hosts on Saturday had not been beaten in front of their own supporters since August.
Witton trailed at the interval though, stunned by Ryan Hall’s brilliant strike.
The midfielder, after making forward progress from the centre of the pitch, unleashed an unstoppable shot that flew past goalkeeper Andy Firth.
Albion had glimpses of goal too, notably when Danny Andrews fired off-target and when Hopley’s header from Jamie Menagh’s cross dropped narrowly over.
Alex Titchiner sent an effort wide early in the second period before hauling his side level after an hour, ending a two-month wait to celebrate scoring.
It acted as a catalyst.
Andrews teed up Jon Dawson to put Witton in front, then Dawson turned provider for Hopley shortly afterwards.
The former Colwyn Bay favourite promptly made it 3-1.
He repeated the trick with six minutes left, this time converting from a corner.
Albion saved their most impressive strike until last, when Menagh conjured a fine solo effort after cutting inside from the left.
Macauley said: “I thought we dominated in every department.
“We controlled the first half even though we went behind, so the message at the break was to carry on doing what we’d done well in the previous 45 minutes.
“After we’d equalised, we ran out comfortable winners.
“It’s a win that will give the players a lift; the camp has been happier, and we’ve worked on things that came together in the game. As a manager, that’s great to see.”
