DAVENHAM brought to an end Oxton’s four-match winning run in the Cheshire County League on Saturday thanks to a demolition job led by Ben Gough.
He took six wickets, backed up by four for Ryan Blackie, as the home team knocked over their in-form guests for 74 at Butcher’s Stile.
It was a productive day behind the stumps too for Mike Sambell, who held on to five catches.
Davenham had posted 171 after being put in, with Aussie Hugh Walker (61) and Adam Garrod (35) adding 56 runs for the third wicket after coming together at 8-2.
Sambell (21) and Walker, opening for the first time this season, put 43 runs on the board together too for the fifth wicket.
Weaverham celebrated a second win of the campaign in Division Two, beating back-markers Runcorn by 28 runs at the WCG.
Salman Hanif (63) scored his third half-century in 2018 for the Russets, who put 185-8 on the board.
That included a partnership worth 55 runs for the third wicket with captain Ian Eaton (26) and another of 44, for the fifth, with James Bell (26).
Runcorn were dismissed for 157, Kevin Douglas (4-31) and Zulqarnain Aslam (4-66) doing the damage.
The 2s suffer a hard defeat at the hands of @RuncornCC but the 1s take the 25 points in a game that was in the balance for a long time. A Tom Hulse run out proving the turning point as the 1s defended the total with a few overs to spare

Northwich will feel they missed an opportunity to beat Lindow after having the leaders, chasing 195 to win, cornered at 137-8.
However a match-winning half-century from Charlie Williams (52no), who starred in a partnership for the ninth wicket with Tim Young (19) worth 55 runs, took the game from them.
The hosts reached their target with three balls to spare despite the best efforts of James Gittings (5-50) and Andrew Dufty (3-31).
Tharusha Fernando (64 off 54 balls) was in impressive form for the visitors when they posted 194-9 after being put in, adding 55 runs for the fourth wicket with opener Glinoj Cherian (28).
Gittings (25no) and captain James Plant (21) chipped in too.
Oulton Park’s eight-match winning run in all competitions ended spectacularly when they went down by seven wickets at Neston.
They folded for 112, with Danny Leech (66) the only batsman to contribute, after collapsing to 16-5.
The home team eased to their target by the 28th over, with Muhammad Kashif (3-26) taking the wickets to fall.
Patrick Roberts’ men slip to fifth in the Premier Division table as a result.
