OAKMERE posted their highest total of the campaign to date when they beat promoted Maritime on Saturday to extend a winning run to five matches.

Opener Adrian Stubbs (102 off 99 balls) and captain Craig Phelan (53no) shared in a partnership worth 69 runs for the sixth wicket as their side put 235 on the board at Overdale Lane.

Slade Mitrovich (44) took his runs tally for the campaign past 200 with another valuable contribution.

Maritime, promoted from the Cheshire League’s third division last season, succumbed for 110 in reply.

Matt Norton (3-21), who bowled free-scoring Pratham Shetty (31 off 17 balls) and Matthew Howard (3-41) made initial inroads before Joe Roddis (2-26) weighed in.

Middlewich made it back-to-back wins in the same section when they recorded a three-wicket success over Poynton at Haddon Field.

A collective bowling effort, during which Matthew Parry (3-46) and Matt Ryan (3-24) both took three wickets, knocked over the visitors for 136.

Skipper Phil Parry (2-11 off eight overs) and Reece Johnson (2-19) provided support.

Stephen Parry (63) then led the hosts to victory at 137-7 with three overs to spare despite the best efforts of Daniel Williams (5-38).

Winnington Park were denied a draw from their meeting with Stockport Trinity at the Rec when Alex Birchenall was dismissed from the game’s final delivery.

That left them 125 all out, and 44 runs short of a victory.

Mike Dunning (24), Ben Coulbeck (21) and Sam Barnes (22) made starts, while Zohaib Khan took 5-51.

Stockport had posted 168-7 after winning the toss, with James Hendry (2-25) and Ian Connor (2-6) claiming a brace apiece.

Barnton endured an afternoon to forget when they ran into Stockport Georgians for a Division One fixture.

The hosts set a club best when they closed on 325-4, while Adam Keene (177no off 101 balls) amassed the highest individual total for his side too.

Neil Langham, standing in for skipper Simon Hancock, took 2-51.

Keene (3-10) enjoyed himself with the ball too, demolishing the visitors’ tail as they fell for 122 – a 203-run defeat.

Paul Coot (41) offered most resistance at the top of the order before becoming one of Simon Normanton’s four victims.

Kingsley were left frustrated by Haslington’s lower order after the rivals played out a draw at the Croft.

The visitors, chasing 162 to win, closed on 128-7.

Adrian Burden (4-25) was the pick of the home team’s bowlers, while Hayden Lanza (2-26) took wickets with successive deliveries to leave the visitors looking vulnerable at 52-6.

However Joseph Goodier (32) and captain Tom Gledhill (28no) thwarted Toby Mullins’ men.

Kingsley had been bowled out for 161 after being put in, Harris Yassin (26) and Kieron Ollier (27) adding 55 runs for the second wicket.

Charlie Loye (34) and Tom Waring (18) contributed lower down the order.

James Tierney was Winsford’s star turn as they closed out a thrilling one-run win over Trafford MV at Knights Grange.

He ran out danger man Matthew Ball (87) to thwart the visitors, who fell for 211.

Opener Darren Longden (34) had suffered the same fate earlier on, while Tierney also returned figures of 5-51.

Captain Mike Dean (31) and Mike Dickenson (50) had put on 50 together for the first wicket when Winsford were bowled out for 212.

However a fine innings from Ben Crellin (57 off 54 balls), including a 61-run partnership with Craig Edmondson (19), was the highlight.
