SIMON Rusk has signed for York City.
Vics' Blue Square Premier rivals sealed a deal for the 26-year-old midfielder this afternoon.
"We're sad to see him go," Dino Maamria told the Guardian.
"But this is purely a financial decision to balance the books.
"I would have liked Rusky to stay but he was one of the highest earners here and we needed to ease the pressure on the wage bill, particularly as I am hoping to bring more players in."
Vics will not recieve a transfer fee.
The Guardian exclusively revealed Rusk's departure on Saturday after he was left out of the starting line-up for Vics' 2-1 home reverse against league leaders Aldershot Town.
York had enquired about him earlier in the season when former boss Billy McEwan was still in charge, but Northwich did not want to let him go.
Other clubs, including Weymouth, were interested in him but Rusk will instead hook up with former Northwich duo Paul Brayson and Stuart Elliott at KitKat Crescent.
He made 19 starts for Vics, scoring twice.
