LOSTOCK Gralam can turn their attention to the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup with their confidence boosted by a five-game unbeaten run in the Cheshire League.

The Grey Lambs prevailed on a first visit to Orford last Saturday when goals from James Dean and Josh Perry separated them from their Warrington-based hosts.

They rise to eighth in League One as a reward.

Dean converted from the penalty spot to put establish an interval lead for Lostock before the home team restored parity.

However Perry met George Ward’s free-kick at the back post to settle the outcome.

It sends his side into a first-round encounter with Dukinfield Athletic, from the Lancashire and Cheshire Amateur League’s fourth tier, this weekend in optimistic mood.

Cuddington suffered a first defeat of the campaign in League Two when they went down 5-2 at Ashton Athletic’s reserves.

They ceded top spot to their opponents as a result.

The home teams led 3-0 inside 20 minutes before Cuddy steadied the ship.

They fought back thanks to goals from Josh Mainwaring and Jack Glimond, and hit the woodwork more than once, but left themselves with too much to do.

“It just wasn’t our day,” said manager Gareth Harwood.

“We had seven players missing that had been involved the previous week, and received a reality-check.”

Winnington Avenue 1994 had reason to celebrate after collecting maximum points from a meeting with Sandbach United reserves.

It marks a maiden victory for the Northwich side following their transfer from the Crewe and District League.

Buba Drammeh was on target twice for the hosts at Park Stadium, where Anasse Ataya scored their other goal.
