OULTON Park returned to top form at the crease on Saturday but it was not enough to avoid a fourth successive defeat in all competitions.
The Little Budworth outfit could have been forgiven for feeling confident that their total, 300-5 off 55 overs, would at least be enough to halt a losing sequence.
Danny Leech (84) and Muhammad Shahbaz (80) added 123 runs for the second wicket before Tom Hyslop (48 off 33 balls) put on 87 more with the latter.
Matt Jamieson (30no) scored quickly too late in the innings.
However Cheadle made it to their target, securing with it a six-wicket victory, with more than two overs to spare after opener Greg Dixon (157) scored a magnificent century.
Davenham endured an afternoon to forget when they went down by 53 runs at home to Bollington in Division One.
Andrej Yaksender (126no) did almost all the damage on his own as the visitors to Butcher’s Stile were bowled out for 215.
Stephen Bliss (3-68) was most successful of the hosts’ bowling attack, while Ben Gough (2-39) and Danny Hancock (2-30) claimed a brace each.
Only two other batsmen reached double-figures.
Davenham succumbed for 162 in reply, although their hopes were raised after Adam Garrod (23) and Oli Gallagher (42) came together at 40-4.
They added 73 runs together before Jack Ward (5-26) and James Cross (3-40) settled the outcome.
Northwich’s attack laid a foundation for victory at Hale Barns when they claimed six wickets at a cost of only a dozen runs to dismiss their hosts for 134.
Andrew Dufty (5-36) and Tharusha Fernando (3-39) did the damage, while the former was also responsible for an opportunistic runout.
The visitors’ path to a victory wasn’t a smooth one, although they made it there with Gladwin Cherian (29no) at the crease to record a three-wicket success in the Division Two clash.
Tharusha (24) and captain James Plant (29) contributed too.
Improving Weaverham batted for 62 overs to ensure they earned a share of the spoils from a draw with Brooklands.
Ryan Simm (105 off 79 balls) celebrated a maiden century for the Russets’ first team as their innings closed on 254-9.
The all-rounder scored 17 fours, and two maximums, after arriving at the crease with his side struggling at 67-4.
Their guests had declared after reaching 292-3, the highlight a ton scored by Kevin Carroll (188 off 77 balls) who helped himself to a huge tally of 20 sixes and 10 fours.
David Griffiths (50) was with him during a second-wicket partnership worth 198 runs.
