WEAVERHAM sent out a message to their promotion rivals after recording an emphatic 86-run success against relegated Marple on Saturday.

They ran up 227 after being put in, with Antiguan all-rounder Wilden Cornwall (88 off 75 balls) and opener Matthew Jamieson (59) both contributing half-centuries.

Together they added 53 runs for the third wicket too, while Andy Wylie took 5-49.

The highlight of Cornwall’s haul after tea was his fifth over; he took four wickets, including a hat-trick as the visitors to Wallerscote Road succumbed for 141.

Rob McMillan took 3-46, and Mike Dean 2-22.

Givon Christian, Davenham’s new overseas signing, had a debut to remember in their five-wicket win at home to promoted Bollington.

The South African weighed in with four wickets to help restrict Bolly to 207-7, supported by skipper Danny Hancock (2-64).

The hosts sneaked over the line with two balls to spare, posting 208-5 after Christian (106) and James Loveridge (50) had both scored heavily at the top of the order.

Oulton Park were impressive seven-wicket winners at Sale, who they ousted for 134.

Kiwi debutant Sam Blandford took five wickets, while Andy Hards returned of 4-25 from his 15 overs.

Openers Martyn East (54) and Daniel Leech (62no) put on 93 for the first wicket as the men from Little Budworth eased to their victory target in the 34th over.

Northwich included nine players from their junior section, past and present, in a comfortable five-wicket win against Middlewich at Moss Farm in Division Two.

After putting in their guests, they dismissed them for 112 with Sam Shepherd (4-33) and Andrew Dufty (3-18) among the wickets.

The home team took 45 overs to reach 115-5, aided by an unbeaten sixth-wicket partnership between teenage duo Matthew Dufty (55no) and Joe Walker (12no).
