A MID-CHESHIRE College student has had a book published from what originally started as a homework assignment.
Mature student Elizabeth Horrocks, 63, spent two years completing her novel The Edge of Doom, a time travelling fantasy tale set in Cheshire.
The retired English literature teacher and former BBC Mastermind champion said she has always been fascinated by myths and legends and was delighted with her achievements.
“I started the book as a homework assignment three years ago when our tutor Olwyn Dean set us the task of writing a novel.
“I’ve been writing since I was six so to finally get published is a huge accomplishment,” she said.
The book features two further-education students that are whisked away by a military helicopter to begin their adventure where they meet a variety of characters It is the first of a trilogy of books, Ms Horrocks said she was part way through the second and looking forward to finishing the third.
