THE body of a 91-year-old man has been found by police in Middlewich.
At around 6.45am on Friday morning, officers were called to reports of a body in the canal near Booth Lane.
They attended the scene and sadly, a body was recovered from the water.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson has confirmed that it was the body of a 91-year-old man who had been reported missing from his home which was nearby.
The spokesperson said that there are believed to be no suspicious circumstances and that a case file will be prepared for the coroner.
A large emergency service presence was reported at the scene on Friday.
