A TEAM of dedicated vets, nurses and receptionists are ‘made up’ to be shortlisted as Practice of the Year as part of a prestigious veterinary awards night.

Hollybank Veterinary Centre, an independent small animal vets in Sandiway, Northwich, is one of three finalists in the Practice of the Year category in the Petplan Veterinary Awards 2023.

Now in its 24th year, the awards attracted more than 30,000 nominations submitted by both colleagues and clients in recognition of nominees’ commitment and dedication to going ‘above and beyond’ when it comes to the health of the nation’s pets.

The awards ceremony will take place on March 23 at Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester, and will be hosted by actress and comedian Sally Phillips.

Hollybank practice owner Richard Hewitt – who bought the practice site in 2008 and converted it into the veterinary centre - said: “We are delighted and incredibly proud that we have been nominated for Petplan Veterinary Practice of the Year 2023.

“We strive extremely hard to provide the best possible care for every patient and client we see.

“We have a fantastic team of dedicated receptionists, nurses and vets, who will be very excited and grateful to be recognised in this way.”

While Hollybank has been nominated in these awards before, this is the first time it has been shortlisted.

Richard added: “The practice in Sandiway opened just over 14 years ago and a couple of years ago we opened a practice in Winnington, but the same team works across both.

“Being a finalist was a big surprise, it just came out of nowhere, we’re absolutely made up.

“We don’t do the job for prizes but it’s brilliant for the team to be recognised and we really appreciate everyone who nominated us.

“We don’t get told who has nominated us – it could be anybody – but we know the finalists are those who have gone ‘above and beyond’, which is really lovely.”

Hollybank’s team of vets is ran by Richard, but the team also includes veterinary nurses and receptionists, all adding to the client’s experience.
