POLICE have issued an update following the death of a woman at a Northwich park at the weekend.
Emergency services were called to Griffiths Park in Rudheath just before 9am on Saturday after concerns were raised about the welfare of a woman.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and police have since been working to establish her identity.
She has now been confirmed as a 40-year-old woman.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At 8.56am on Saturday, February 11, police were called to concerns for the welfare of a woman in Griffiths Park, Northwich.
“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly the woman, aged 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Her next of kin has been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A torch-lit vigil was held in the park on Sunday, February 12, where members of the community in Rudheath came together to pay their respects and lay flowers.
