Meet the makers of Winsford's Best Fish and Chips 2022

The family-run business opened its doors on High Street in Winsford in January with Julie Finney at the helm.

After just five months serving takeaways to the people of Winsford – and beyond – Winsford Fryer has scooped the Best Fish and Chips 2022 award.

We launched our Best of 2022 competition at the end of April and have already crowned some winners – Best Hair Salon Lissie Wright Hair, JD’s Café makes the best pies and The Beauty Spot is Best for Nails with The Lion at Moulton being named Best Pub and Sharon Power officially the best fitness instructor.

Winsford Fryer serves traditional fish and chips, freshly cooked to order, and customers can’t get enough.

One recommendation on their Facebook page said: “Amazing customer service with welcoming staff and a lovely, clean environment.

“The food is really good and the best English chippy I’ve been to in a long time.”

Another said: “The food was freshly cooked in front of us and the portions are huge.

“I’ll definitely be going again!”

As well as their award-winning fish and chips, Julie and her team serve chicken breast dinners, Wright’s pies and steak and kidney puddings as well as sausages, burgers and wraps six days a week, Monday to Saturday.

Julie said: “We really value our customers and get to know people when they come into the shop.

“Customers say they’ve never had portions like it and our food is great value for money.

“We live locally so we’re always seeing people in the community so it’s nice to welcome familiar faces to the shop as well as new customers.

“Their support means everything to us and we’re so grateful that people took the time to vote for us to win this award.”
