A 'sinkhole' appeared in the middle of a road in Weaverham last night, Wednesday.
The hole is in Northwich Road, which was closed as a result, and is set to be 'investigated further' today.
A spokesperson for Cheshire West and Chester Council confirmed: "Our highways teams had to close Northwich Road, Weaverham, last night due to a large cavity in the carriageway.
"An officer attended and a traffic diversion was set at Wallerscote Road through Burrows Hill.
"It will be investigated further today."
Buses are also having to divert due to the road closure.
Diversions are in place on the CAT9 & 9A and the 48 & 48A because of a road closure between Hodge Lane and Walnut Avenue due to a sinkhole opening up in the road.
