THE Davenham Carnival was a resplendent success in the summer sun this weekend, with large crowds turning out to get involved.
The day featured a procession through the village to Butcher’s Stile Fields, where entertainment included a birds of prey display, a magician, raffle, fair ground, mini quad bike course and face painter.
Organiser Bev Roberts said: “It was absolutely brilliant. The whole village came out to support us which was nice to see – a lot of community groups got involved. We always get a great turnout and it’s lovely to have that community support.
“A lot of people watched the procession, and the retinue had worked so hard in practices and were excellent on the day.
“I just want to thank the people who support us – without them we couldn’t do the carnival. It’s all about letting people have a nice day in the community.”
The day also supported the Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) charity.
