ODEON at Barons Quay will feature one of the first iSense screens in the UK.
The UK’s largest cinema chain calls iSense the ‘ultimate way to enjoy cinema’.
Odeon claims ‘nothing is so immersive’ as iSense, which is not to be confused with the popular IMAX screens.
The Odeon iSense screen at Barons Quay will be the fourth in the UK.
A spokesman for Odeon said: “We’re very excited to confirm that we will be bringing the sensational experience of Odeon Cinemas to Northwich.
“Whilst there are still a number of details to be finalised, we can confirm we will opening with five cutting-edge screens full of the latest and best entertainment for film fans to enjoy – as well as one of our Odeon-exclusive iSense screens, alongside a whole host of food and drink options.
“We’ll be sharing more info as we get closer to launch. Watch this space.”
iSense feature 4K digital projectors that deliver almost 9 million pixels –four times the resolution of a standard screen, which makes for an even brighter, clearer and more detailed picture.
The state-of-the art screens also features cutting-edge Dolby ATMOS sound and perfect hi-def images provided by their Digital HD 8000 projection system.
The description on Odeon’s website says: “In iSense you’re at the heart of the action… you’re in the film. There is nothing so immersive. This is the ultimate way to enjoy cinema.
“From the stunning high-definition images to the realer-than-real digital audio, ISENSE demands the attention of all your senses.
“This is a feat of technology, made possible by pioneering equipment that pushes the possibilities of cinema to the extreme.”
iSense screens are also curved to maximise light reflection, which is particularly important for 3D films.
“Monster screens. Mind-blowing sound. iSense is the natural home of the big, booming blockbuster and the 3D epic,” the description says.
“Feel the blast of every explosion. The impact of every blow. The G force on every full-throttle corner.
“Whether you’re fighting crime in the big city, touching down in a galaxy far, far, away or walking among dinosaurs, iSense takes you there.”
Odeon are able to show all films in iSense, though certain movies will be specifically tailored for the crystal clear 4K screen.
It's unclear how much iSense tickets will cost, though other screens in the UK are cheaper than IMAX.
Cllr Brian Clarke, Cheshire West and Chester Council cabinet member for economic development and Infrastructure, said: “Barons Quay is getting ever closer.
“We are delighted to be working with the Odeon and supporting the new iSense screen in Northwich which will bring the very best ultra-high definition film experience to the residents of Northwich, Winsford and area.”
