SELF-employed joiner William Oultram will be on our screens this summer in the popular BBC TV series Homes Under The Hammer.
William will feature in an episode of the BBC One renovation and auction series showing how he revamped a terraced property in Northwich.
William, 33, from Weaverham, has had his own joinery business for 12 years, and a few years ago decided to look at investing in property to generate income for his retirement.
He bought two properties in Northwich early in 2015, and the second, an end terraced house in Hadfield Street, is due to feature in the BBC series this summer.
William was filmed on three occasions for the programme, at the auction and shortly after buying the house, with presenter and former footballer Dion Dublin, and recently after he had completed the renovation.
“I don’t have a pension, and I’ve always wanted to be a landlord and own property and let it out,” said William.
“The two houses I bought at auction are two-bedroom, and they needed a lot of work doing on them, although it was less on the one in Hadfield Street.
“I started on the Peter Street house in March and the property in Hadfield Street at the end of September.
“It has been the hardest thing I have ever done, and pushed me physically and emotionally.
“From March to Christmas Eve I only had nine days off work, and it’s been hard for my wife Danielle as well as me.
“She has been a massive support, and I would also like to thank my dad Steve and her dad Alan for their help.
“The BBC arrived to film at Hadfield Street at 8am on April 15, and I had only finished work on the property at 1am that morning.
“My ultimate goal is to buy about 10 houses so the rent replaces my wage, and my aim is to get a third house in the next couple of years.”
William and Danielle have a two-year-old daughter, Pearl, and their second child is due to be born in July.
A couple moved into the Peter Street property in September, and a tenant is due to move into the renovated Hadfield Street house this week.
