A BOAT caught fire on the Trent and Mersey Canal at Barnton this morning.
Firefighters were called to the incident at 11.58am near Barnton Tunnel.
One fire engine from Northwich and one from Stockton Heath attended the blaze.
The boat was well alight on the arrival of the crews. Firefighters extinguished the blaze using a main water jet.
Water was used by fire crews to cool the boat's cylinders. A thermal imaging camera was also used to check for hot spots on the craft.
Canal and River Trust officers were in attendance. No-one was hurt during the incident.
