ALIENS may have visited a playing field in a quiet mid Cheshire village.

Symbols have been spotted in the grass of Laburnum Road field, prompting a discussion at the latest Davenham Parish Council meeting.

But suspicious have developed among councillors themselves.

Cllr Arthur Wood said: "You know those crop circles?

"Well, there's an interesting phenomena in Laburnum Road field – it says DR in mown letters."

He jokingly addressed his comments to fellow councillor Dave Ravenscroft who replied with a smile: "I know we had a good result in the football at the weekend but I don't remember doing anything like that."
