FURTHER details have been revealed of Northwich’s planned ODEON Cinema as excitement mounts among residents.
The five-screen multiplex will seat more than 760 people, with its largest screen holding 271 and its smallest just 80.
The remaining three screens will seat 115, 146 and 152 people.
ODEON was announced as the operator for the cinema last week.
It will form a key part of the £80 million Barons Quay redevelopment, which will also feature an ASDA supermarket and seven restaurants, which are still to be named, as well as cafes, bars, shops, parks, housing and a hotel.
Readers have been reacting to the news on the Guardian’s website northwichguardian.co.uk.
MrT1976 said: “I for one welcome this announcement.
“In my opinion the future is looking great for Northwich at last!
“Having a proper cinema in the town instead of having to travel to Cheshire Oaks/Chester/Warrington/Runcorn etc is brilliant.”
madretailer said: “The cinema is a brilliant addition, and is much needed in Northwich I think.
“I do, however, question the need for another supermarket.
“Many larger towns don't have this many and I hope it doesn't detract from the wonderful improvements being made in the town.”
Daniel18 said: “The difference is that ASDA will be in the town centre, and not on the outskirts like most of the others, which means it is more likely to bring people into the town. T “his means that people will be more likely to visit other shops when they come to do their weekly shop.
“The new Cinema will help build a night time economy in the town centre, something which is currently lacking.
“Once the Cinema opens people will be likely to go into town at night to watch a film and have a nice meal – just like they do at Cheshire Oaks, Crewe and Altrincham.“
