PLANS to transform Leicester Street roundabout to overcome traffic congestion and improve road safety will be outlined at a public meeting on Monday, July 8.

Members of the public will be able to study the detailed plans and hear how the new roundabout at the top of Chesterway will support the ambitious new town centre development plans which are creating jobs and providing new leisure and retail facilities.

The meeting will be held at Northwich Town Council offices in Church Road from 6pm to 7pm.

Introducing the plans will be John Nightingale - an independent expert on roundabout designs who is director of Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) and senior vice president of the Institute of Engineers.

Attending the meeting will be clr Lynn Riley, executive member for localities, and the new chairman of the Weaver Valley Partnership, David Watson.

Clr Riley said: “The work that has already started in the town centre on the new Waitrose store, Memorial Court leisure complex and very soon on the Barons Quay development is bringing jobs and opportunities for residents and businesses.

“The plans will transform the lifestyle, health and wealth of residents ending the decline of two decades largely caused by the mining subsidence issues which have now been resolved.

“The Leicester Street roundabout and other work being done are fundamental to the success of the regeneration, the foundation stones for Northwich’s bright future.

“I would ask people to be patient during the construction period and keep their eyes on the prize as we build an affluent Northwich for all, especially for the children of today and the future.”

The meeting will take place at the Town Council offices on Church Road on Monday, July 8, from 6pm.
