MIKE Connett launched a scathing attack on his players before tonight's defeat to Burton Albion.

The Vics chairman issued a personal apology to supporters for the team's display at Farsley Celtic on Saturday, before publicly dressing down his struggling side in his programme notes.

"Both myself and the manager will not stand for any more performances like that," he wrote.

"I know Neil feels very let down by some of the players who showed very little fight or character during the second half of a match that was there for the taking.

"To see victory turned into defeat during the last five minutes of the gmae left all those involved with the management of the club shellshocked."

He threatened those underperforming most with an early departure from the club, who now find themselves bottom of the table on goal difference following their 2-0 defeat to Burton.

"I call on all the players to get behind Neil," he continued.

"He is working very hard to rebuild the side after many summer departures and if I think players aren't rolling up their sleeves and battling for the club they will go."

The Danebank disagreed at full time tonight, choosing instead to direct their own audible discontent at the manager.
