MARINE must dread away days at Wincham Park.
Well beaten by Witton there twice last term, they were once more blown away by Albion's attacking armoury as the hosts left their lethargy in Lincoln.
Skipper Eddie Hussin's sending off capped a miserable night for the Mariners.
For Jim Vince's men a deserved win on their home season debut who, after controlling the opening exchanges to go in a goal up at the break, were strangely subdued straight after the interval.
That Marine hotshot Peter Cumiskey had the temerity to poach a leveller during that lull served only to rise them from the slumber.
Then, spurred by the dazzling dribbling of Mark Peers, Witton needed no second invitation to sweep away the Mariners.
They started and ended the first half full of fervour.
Liam Brownhill swapped passes with Alex Brown on 11 minutes to make space for a shot that was deflected inches past the upright.
Marine did not heed the warning.
Five minutes later the Albion full back burst past Wayne McDermott into the same spot only to see his drilled cross cannon back off the outside of the post.
Peers opener ten minutes later was imperious in its execution.
Picking the ball up on the corner of the penalty area, he arced a perfect curling shot into the far angle with the visitor's custodian Andy Banks an admiring spectator.
Bank's brilliance ensured his team had something still to play for after the break.
Steve Brodie played in Brown on the stroke of half time only for the keeper to parry his rasping drive low to his right. His next stop was the pick of the bunch.
Peers exchanged passes with Dean Crowe to cut a swathe through the left side of Marine's defence and, from his inviting cross, Adam Warlow powered a header goalwards that Banks tipped over the crossbar at full stretch.
Marine were a team transformed from the second whistle.
Cumiskey fired a shot into the side netting from an acute angle following McDermott's measured pass before snaffling an equaliser on the hour.
Kevin Towey danced past two feeble tackles before picking out Cumiskey unmarked in the six-yard box. He could not miss from point blank range.
Peers was scythed down by Adam Farley seven minutes later to earn Witton a spot kick, which the winger himself converted.
Brodie then got in on the act four minutes later, impudently flicking the ball past Banks to end a flowing passing movement and open his Albion account.
Hussin then headed for an early bath after a hack at Brownhill, who later left the field early himself with an injury to his right knee picked up when he struck the ball.
STAR MAN: 7-Alex Brown - An all-action display by Witton's main man in midfield. With Rob Lloyd having a rare off day, Brown was on hand to combine crisp passing and lung busting runs from the centre of the pitch.
